Locality: Xuebaoding Mine, Pingwu County, Mianyang, Sichuan, China
The Xuebaoding deposit lies in the northern Longmen Mountains of Sichuan and is well known for coarse crystals of scheelite, beryl, cassiterite and fluorite. Its ore veins run from granite into marble between the Pankou and Pukouling granites. Muscovite and beryl line the veins in the granite, while the main crystal zone, with scheelite, beryl, cassiterite, fluorite, apatite and needle-like tourmaline, lies in the marble.
Researchers studying the deposit concluded that the crystals grew so large because the fluids were rich in ore elements and fluorine, the pure marble host held few impurities such as iron, and open space in the veins gave the crystals room to grow.
Scheelite is calcium tungstate, CaWO4, and an important ore of tungsten. It is named for Karl Wilhelm Scheele (1742–1786), who determined that the mineral contained tungsten. It has a vitreous to adamantine lustre, a hardness of 4.5 to 5 and a high density of about 6.1, and it glows bright bluish white under short-wave ultraviolet light.
This one of a kind Scheelite on Muscovite mineral specimen from Sichuan Province, China features warm golden-orange to honey-coloured Scheelite crystal growth over a pale silvery-white Muscovite matrix. The Scheelite shows a translucent glow, blocky crystal form, stepped faces, natural surface etching, and glassy reflections, while the Muscovite adds a lighter mica-rich contrast with flaky, pearly areas and fine sparkling texture. This specimen has a strong collector look, combining the warm colour of Scheelite with the layered mineral character of Muscovite.
Scheelite is a calcium tungstate mineral and an important ore of tungsten, a metal valued for its extreme hardness, density, and very high melting point. Scheelite was named after the Swedish chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele, who helped identify tungsten chemistry in the 18th century. Fine Scheelite crystals are known from several major world localities, and Sichuan Province, China is especially respected by collectors for producing bright orange Scheelite crystals, often associated with Muscovite, Quartz, Fluorite, or other pegmatite and skarn-related minerals.
Scheelite is often associated with focus, clarity, personal direction, and motivated action. Its golden-orange colour is commonly linked with confidence, creativity, and solar plexus energy, while its connection to tungsten gives it a strong symbolic association with endurance, resilience, and inner strength. Muscovite is often associated with reflection, insight, and emotional awareness, making this combination appealing for collectors who enjoy both the mineralogical and energetic character of natural crystal specimens.
