Description: This one of a kind Tourmaline mineral specimen from Kunar, Afghanistan features a slender, vertical crystal with rich blue-green to teal coloration and a darker nearly black base. The crystal has strong lengthwise striations, a glassy luster, and a natural color zoning that shifts from dark at the bottom into clearer teal toward the upper section. The top is naturally contacted or broken rather than sharply terminated, with a few small surface nicks and internal fractures visible, which is common for natural tourmaline crystals. A small side growth is present along one edge, giving the piece a bit more character without taking away from the main crystal form.

Tourmaline is a complex borosilicate mineral group known for its wide range of colors, including black, green, pink, blue, watermelon, and multicolor zoning. The name comes from “turmali,” a term historically used in Sri Lanka for mixed colored gemstones. Tourmaline is commonly found in pegmatite deposits, where crystals can form in long prismatic shapes with vertical striations, like this specimen. Kunar Province in Afghanistan is well known for producing attractive tourmaline crystals, especially from pegmatite-rich mountain areas near the Nuristan and Kunar mineral belts. 

Spiritually, Tourmaline is often associated with protection, grounding, balance, and clearing unwanted energy.
