Description

Origin: Madagascar

Description: Apatite is radioactive. Of course it is minimal and harmless, however, a geiger counter will notice it.

As a phosphate mineral with the chemical formula Ca₅(PO₄)₃(F,Cl,OH), apatite plays an important role in geology and is the same mineral group that forms the basis of biological structures like bones and teeth. Madagascar is known for producing some of the world’s finest blue specimens, which are highly valued for lapidary and jewelry applications. In rough form, this material is ideal for cabbing, carving, or simply enjoying as-is for its natural beauty and scientific significance.

Blue Apatite from Madagascar is instantly recognizable for its vivid oceanic hues, ranging from deep teal to bright turquoise, often streaked with natural patterns that highlight its crystalline origins. In its rough form, it retains the raw, rugged textures of its natural growth, offering a striking contrast between its bold coloration and jagged surfaces. The material has a vitreous luster that catches the light even before polishing, making it both visually captivating and versatile.
