Description: This dumortierite is easy to work, and no longer accessible from the mine. It is getting harder and harder to find in old collections. It yields a nice, dark blue.

Dumortierite is an aluminum boro-silicate hydroxide which belongs to the silicate class of minerals. Dumortierite can often be misidentified as other ornamental stones such as sodalite, lazurite and lazulite, However this Dumortierite from Vancouver Island is a much lighter blue then those from other parts of the world. It's much more shade of a sky blue. Dumortierite can help one overcome stage fright, shyness, stress, phobias, insomnia, panic, fear, depression or stubbornness. It is believed to be a stone of self-reliance and discipline. It is said to promote patience and orderliness. The stone is credited for promoting insight and aiding memory.
