Description

Mined from: Dundas Quarry, West Flamborough Township, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Description: This one of a kind pink calcite specimen from Dundas, Ontario shows large, heavy crystal development with a soft blush to peach-pink color that gives it a very different look from the darker Dundas pieces. The crystals are broad, thick, and sharply formed, with translucent areas, stepped growth patterns, and natural internal zoning that shows up well in the photos. Dark mineral inclusions and scattered surface pockets break up the color and give the specimen a rugged, natural feel instead of a polished or sugary appearance. It has real presence because the crystals are oversized, tightly packed, and substantial.

Dundas Quarry is a classic Ontario mineral locality known for strong calcite specimens from carbonate-hosted environments. This piece fits that locality well, but stands out for its warmer color and the size of the crystal faces. Rather than a delicate spray, this is a solid cabinet specimen with broad terminations, layered crystal architecture, and the kind of weighty formation collectors tend to notice right away. The pink tone likely comes from trace impurities and internal staining within the calcite, which gives the specimen more depth than plain white material.

In metaphysical traditions, pink calcite is often associated with emotional softness, calm, and compassion. Many people are drawn to it for its gentler feel, often connecting it with comfort, easing tension, and bringing a steadier emotional tone into a space.
