Description: This one of a kind Ammolite fossil specimen from Alberta, Canada features a large ammonite shell section with strong natural iridescence across the preserved shell surface. The specimen shows bright flashes of green, red, orange, yellow, blue, and purple, with a mosaic-like cracked pattern running through the nacre. The ammonite’s spiral form is still visible, with raised shell texture, dark natural matrix areas, and a glossy stabilized surface that helps bring out the colour and depth of the fossil.

Ammolite is an organic gemstone formed from the fossilized shells of ammonites, ancient marine animals related to modern squid and nautilus. The finest commercial Ammolite is famously found in southern Alberta, Canada, especially from the Bearpaw Formation. These fossils are from the Late Cretaceous Period, roughly 70 to 75 million years old. Ammolite is valued for its rare colour play, which comes from light reflecting through thin layers of preserved aragonite on the fossil shell.
