Description: Think of them as little beetles that used to scurry along the ocean floor. Calymene and its close relatives (family Calymenidae) lived from the Ordovician into the Devonian, surviving the end-Ordovician mass extinction. Trilobites range in size with the smallest being 1mm and the biggest being 72cm long. Trilobites ate anything smaller than themselves and were diverse because some were scavengers, others predators, and also filter feeders.
