Description
Mined from: Nördlinger Ries impact region, Bavaria, Germany
Description: This one-of-a-kind Moldavite specimen from Germany has an elongated, curved splash-form shape with a dark bottle-green to black-green surface and vivid translucent olive-green edges when backlit. The piece shows dramatic natural etching, rippled ridges, pitted texture, and fan-like flow patterns across both sides, with a thin arched profile and jagged natural rim. The exact specimen shown is the one offered.
Moldavite is a rare Central European tektite, a natural impact glass formed when the Ries meteorite impact in southern Germany melted and ejected silica-rich material roughly 14.7 to 15 million years ago. Most Moldavite is found in the Czech Republic, but Mindat also notes minor occurrences in Germany’s Lausitz region, tying German Moldavite to the broader Central European strewn field. Unlike crystalline minerals, Moldavite is amorphous glass rather than a true crystal.
Spiritually, Moldavite is often associated with transformation, awakening, emotional release, and major life shifts. Many metaphysical collectors connect it with heart chakra energy, personal growth, high-frequency intention work, and opening the path to change; these are spiritual associations rather than scientifically verified properties.
