Description

Mined from: Morocco

Description: This one of a kind prehnite specimen has a soft, pale green color with dense rounded clusters and layered crystal growth spread across a white to faintly pinkish matrix. The piece shows multiple mounded prehnite aggregates with a fine sparkly surface, along with bladed and radiating textures that give it a full, sculptural look from every angle. It has good visual depth, with tighter crystal coverage in some areas and more open rosette-like textures in others, making it a strong display specimen rather than a flat, uniform piece.

Prehnite also has an interesting place in mineral history. It was named in 1788 in honor of Hendrik von Prehn, and it is widely regarded as the first mineral named after a person. The species was first described from South Africa, which gives prehnite a small but important place in the early history of mineralogy.
