Description: This one-of-a-kind smoky quartz is a 6.55 carat freeform flatback step cut, with a step-cut faceted crown on top and a flat polished back underneath. The colour is an even, warm smoky brown. The flat back makes it a great blank for reverse intaglio carving.

Smoky quartz is the brown to grey variety of quartz. Its colour comes from natural irradiation acting on trace aluminium within the crystal. At a hardness of 7 it is durable enough for everyday jewelry.

In crystal traditions, smoky quartz is often associated with grounding and letting go of stress. These associations come from spiritual and folk traditions rather than scientifically established properties.
