Description: These heat-treated citrines are produced by heating amethyst specimens to temperatures of 470-560°C (about 880-1040°F) inside massive room-sized kilns. This changes the stone's color to shades ranging from pale yellow to orange to reddish-brown. Natural citrine, in contrast, is formed when amethyst or smoky quartz is heated within the earths crust over millions of years.

C-grade citrine has a lighter orange color and smaller crystals than higher grades, but is significantly more affordable. This means you can get significantly larger and more substantial specimens of C-grade citrine than those available in higher grades at the same price point.
