Mined from: Minas Gerais, Brazil
Description: This one of a kind Cleavelandite mineral specimen from Brazil features layered white to off-white bladed crystals arranged in sweeping, fan-like formations across the surface. The specimen has a highly textured, architectural appearance, with thin platy feldspar blades overlapping in curved sprays and stacked ridges. Small metallic-looking golden to brassy mineral accents are scattered in pockets throughout the piece, adding contrast against the pale Cleavelandite and giving the specimen extra visual depth.
Cleavelandite is a platy variety of Albite, a sodium-rich feldspar mineral known for forming thin, bladed, lamellar crystal aggregates. It was named after Parker Cleaveland, an important early American mineralogist often called one of the fathers of American mineralogy. Cleavelandite is especially associated with granitic pegmatites, where it can occur alongside minerals such as quartz, mica, tourmaline, beryl, lepidolite, and other collectible pegmatite minerals. Brazilian Cleavelandite specimens are commonly linked to the pegmatite districts of Minas Gerais, a region famous for producing many of the world’s finest gem and mineral specimens.
Spiritually, Cleavelandite is often associated with clarity, emotional release, calm focus, and gentle transformation. Its pale white colour and flowing layered crystal structure are commonly connected with cleansing, mental organization, and peaceful energy. Many collectors appreciate Cleavelandite as both a classic pegmatite mineral and a soothing display specimen with a bright, delicate, and naturally sculptural presence.
