Description: This one of a kind Septarian carved and polished bowl statement specimen from Madagascar features a wide, shallow bowl shape with a polished interior and a natural, uneven rim. The stone shows the classic Septarian patterning, with grey-brown limestone sections broken up by dark seam lines and yellow to honey-coloured calcite veins. The interior has been smoothly polished to bring out the cracked “dragon skin” pattern, while parts of the outer edge retain a more natural, rougher finish. This is a large decorative stone bowl, best suited as a display piece, collector specimen, or statement decor item rather than everyday kitchen use.

Septarian nodules formed millions of years ago when mud, minerals, and organic material hardened into rounded concretions. As the material dried and cracked, mineral-rich fluids filled the gaps, leaving behind the bold vein patterns Septarian is known for today. Madagascar is a well-known source for large Septarian pieces, including polished freeforms, spheres, bowls, eggs, and display specimens. Most Septarian material is made up of limestone, calcite, aragonite, and sometimes barite.
