描述

Mined from: Haut-Katanga or Lualaba copper belt region. Congo

Description: This one of a kind Barite mineral specimen from the Congo features an elongated plate of warm honey-gold to pale amber Barite crystals growing across a dark brown matrix. The specimen displays dramatic bladed, tabular crystal formations arranged in layered fans, rosette-like clusters, and stacked cockscomb patterns. Clear to milky-white Barite accents appear between the golden blades, adding contrast and depth while highlighting the specimen’s sculptural, naturally architectural form.

Barite, also known as Baryte, is a barium sulfate mineral known for its unusually high weight and wide variety of crystal habits. Its name comes from the Greek word barys, meaning “heavy,” a reference to its high specific gravity. Barite is commonly found in hydrothermal veins, sedimentary deposits, and mineral-rich cavities, often forming alongside calcite, quartz, fluorite, sulfides, and iron-rich matrix. Congolese Barite specimens are often associated with the Katanga / Copperbelt region, an area celebrated for its diverse and striking mineral production.

Spiritually, Barite is often associated with grounding, calm focus, energetic cleansing, and clarity of thought. Many collectors connect it with balance, dream work, and creating a stable, peaceful environment. The golden coloration of this piece gives it a warm, uplifting presence, while the layered crystal growth gives it a strong sense of structure and natural movement.
