Description: Bloodstone is a type of chalcedony or jasper, which are varieties of quartz. It is characterized by its dark green color with distinctive red or brownish-red spots or streaks, which are caused by the presence of iron oxide. These red spots can give the appearance of "blood," hence the name.
Bloodstone is sometimes referred to as heliotrope, a name derived from the Greek words "helios" (sun) and "trope" (turn), due to ancient beliefs that it could turn the sun red. This gemstone has been prized for its aesthetic appeal as well as its supposed mystical properties.
