Description: CV3 carbonaceous chondrites are among the most primitive meteorites known, preserving early solar system material that has undergone minimal alteration since formation. These meteorites are characterized by the presence of chondrules—small, round silicate grains—embedded in a dark matrix, along with calcium-aluminum-rich inclusions (CAIs), which are the oldest known solid materials formed in the solar nebula. Their composition reflects the original building blocks from which planets began to form over 4.5 billion years ago.

What sets CV3 meteorites apart is their chemical complexity and preservation of organic compounds, including amino acids, which are considered key components in the development of life. These meteorites provide critical insight into early solar system chemistry and the potential delivery of organic material to Earth. Their relatively unaltered state makes them valuable for studying the conditions and processes that existed during the earliest stages of planetary formation.

Chemical Composition: Complex mixture including olivine ((Mg,Fe)₂SiO₄), pyroxene ((Mg,Fe,Ca)SiO₃), Fe-Ni metal, sulfides (FeS), and refractory inclusions rich in Ca-Al compounds (e.g., CaAl₂Si₂O₈, CaTiO₃); contains trace organic compounds including amino acids.
