Description: This one of a kind Harpes trilobite fossil specimen from Morocco features a glossy black trilobite prepared in high relief on a pale grey limestone matrix. The fossil shows a broad, rounded cephalic shield with long, upward-curving genal spines, a defined central glabella, and ribbed thoracic segments visible toward the back. The surrounding matrix has a lightly textured, hand-prepared surface with small natural pits and rough dark edges, giving the piece strong contrast and a dramatic three-dimensional display profile.
Harpes is a distinctive genus of trilobite known for its wide, perforated head shield and sweeping crescent-like outline. Trilobites were ancient marine arthropods that lived in Paleozoic seas for hundreds of millions of years, and Moroccan deposits are especially well known for producing dramatic trilobite fossils from Devonian-age marine sediments.
