Description

Mined from: Tharsis, Spain

Description: Iridescent goethite from Tharsis, Spain, is a variety of the mineral goethite (FeO(OH)) that exhibits a shimmering, rainbow-like play of colors on its surface and a lovely botryoidal composition. This iridescence is typically caused by the thin-film interference of light within microscopic layers or inclusions on the mineral's surface. The region of Spain from which these specimens are sourced is known for its rich mineral deposits and has been a significant mining area for various metal ores including copper, iron, and silver. The iridescent goethite is often found in oxidized zones of ore deposits, where chemical weathering has led to the formation of secondary minerals like goethite.

In crystal healing and metaphysical practices, goethite is often associated with the Root Chakra. This Chakra governs our sense of safety, security, and foundation. Goethite, particularly due to its earthy tones and grounding properties, is believed to help in grounding oneself to the Earth's energies and promoting stability and security.
