Description: This one of a kind Woolly Mammoth bone fragment from France features a long, gently curved form with a flattened, blade-like profile and naturally weathered surface texture. The specimen shows cream, tan, grey, and dark brown fossilized bone tones, with areas of flaking outer cortical bone and exposed porous interior structure visible at the broken ends. Its elongated shape, hollowed inner section, and cancellous bone texture make it an excellent display fossil for collectors of Ice Age megafauna, prehistoric mammals, and natural history specimens.
Woolly Mammoths were large Ice Age relatives of modern elephants that lived across Europe, Asia, and North America during the Pleistocene Epoch. Fossils from France and other parts of Europe are often recovered from river deposits, gravel beds, permafrost-influenced sediments, and ancient floodplain environments where mammoth remains were naturally buried and mineralized over thousands of years. Bone fragments like this offer a direct connection to one of the most iconic prehistoric mammals of the last Ice Age.
Mammoth fossils are often associated with strength, endurance, ancient memory, survival, and a connection to deep natural history. As a display piece, this fossil bone fragment carries a rugged, archaeological look, with its weathered surface and preserved bone structure giving it strong educational and collector appeal. It is well suited for fossil collections, natural history displays, museum-style decor, teaching specimens, and Ice Age fossil enthusiasts.
