Description: This one of a kind Mercedes Calcite with Chalcopyrite mineral specimen from Hubei, China features a dense cluster of translucent cream to pale honey calcite crystals with sharp, geometric formations and a bright glassy lustre. The specimen shows excellent “Mercedes” style dark linear chalcopyrite markings across many of the calcite faces, creating bold black striping against the soft champagne-white crystal body. Its layered points, stepped faces, and clustered structure give it a striking architectural display quality from multiple angles.
Mercedes Calcite, sometimes called Benz Calcite, is a collector name for calcite specimens that show distinctive dark spoke-like or stripe-like inclusions resembling the Mercedes-Benz emblem. These specimens are most famously associated with Hubei Province, China, especially the Daye County and Huangshi mining region, where calcite can occur alongside chalcopyrite and other sulfide minerals.
