Description

Mined from: Nördlinger Ries impact region, Bavaria, Germany

Description: This one-of-a-kind Moldavite specimen from Germany has an elongated, curved splash-form shape with a dark smoky olive-green body and lighter translucent green edges. The surface is deeply sculpted with natural ripples, ridges, pitting, and glassy flow texture, giving the piece a dramatic wing-like profile. Its thin, arched form shows both glossy black-green areas and pale transparent rims, and the exact specimen pictured is the one offered.

Moldavite is a rare natural impact glass, or tektite, formed when the Ries meteorite impact in southern Germany ejected molten silica-rich material across Central Europe around 14.8 million years ago. German Moldavite occurrences are much less common than the famous Czech material, with Mindat noting Germany’s Lusatia area among minor Moldavite localities. Moldavite is not a true crystal but an amorphous natural glass, often recognized by its etched surface, flow marks, and distinctive olive to forest-green color.

Spiritually, Moldavite is often associated with transformation, awakening, emotional release, and rapid personal growth. Many metaphysical collectors connect it with the heart chakra, high-frequency energy, and opening the path for change, making it a popular stone for intention work, meditation, and life transitions. These associations are spiritual traditions rather than scientific properties.
