Description

Mined from: Galena Silver Copper Manganese Project, Santa Lucia mining district, Peru

Description: This one of a kind Pyrite with Galena mineral specimen from Peru features a striking metallic formation with broad, blocky pyrite crystals and sharply defined geometric faces. The specimen shows bright silver-gold to brassy metallic luster, with strong natural striations running across the crystal surfaces. The larger crystal faces have a clean, architectural form, while the rougher matrix side reveals sparkling metallic texture, fractured growth, and darker galena-rich areas that add depth and contrast.

Pyrite is an iron sulfide mineral known as “fool’s gold” because of its golden metallic shine, while Galena is a lead sulfide mineral prized for its heavy feel, steel-gray color, and cubic crystal structure. Peru is especially well known for producing high-quality pyrite and galena specimens from sulfide-rich mining districts. The exact mine cannot be confirmed from photos alone, but specimens with this style of sharp, striated pyrite and associated galena are often linked to classic Peruvian localities such as the Huanzala Mine area in Ancash, Peru.

Spiritually, Pyrite is often associated with protection, confidence, manifestation, and abundance, while Galena is commonly connected with grounding, focus, and energetic stability. Together, these minerals are often viewed as a powerful pairing of strength and balance: Pyrite bringing bright, motivating energy, and Galena offering a steady, anchoring presence. This makes the piece appealing both as a collector’s specimen and as a meaningful display stone.
