Description
Mined from: Oulad Abdoun Basin, Morocco
Era: Late Cretaceous
Geological Age: 70 mya
Description: Shark skeletons are composed of cartilage. Cartilage is the stuff your ears and nose are made of, which is much softer than bone, and rarely survives fossilization. So these are a rare and lucky find indeed. These pieces have been removed from their matrix so much of the detail and structure of the bone can be seen. Some earth particles still remain. These fossil shark vertebrae have a shape that is a cross between a disk and an hourglass.
Approximate Size of 1 piece: 7cm x 6.5cm x 3.5m
