Description: This one-of-a-kind amethyst is a 19.23 carat oval fantasy cut, a faceted oval with carved bubbles and hashed lines worked into the surface. The carvings catch and scatter light differently from the facets, giving the stone a playful, textured look in a rich purple. It was cut in Vancouver, British Columbia by Broken Ox Creations.

Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz. Its colour comes from trace iron and natural irradiation within the crystal. At a hardness of 7 it is durable enough for everyday jewelry, and it is one of the most popular gemstones for faceting and carving.

In crystal traditions, amethyst is often associated with calm, clarity and restful sleep. These associations come from spiritual and folk traditions rather than scientifically established properties.
