Description: This one-of-a-kind Oregon fire opal is a 4.06 carat cushion fantasy cut, a rectangular cushion with softly curved sides, faceted on the pavilion, carved with round bubbles across its crown and notched with small grooves along two edges. The carved details catch the rich amber-orange colour of the opal from every angle. It was cut in Vancouver, British Columbia by Broken Ox Creations. The rough was mined at the Juniper Ridge Opal Mine near Bly, Oregon.
Oregon fire opal is a transparent to translucent precious opal made of hydrated silica, prized for its warm yellow, orange and red body colour rather than play-of-colour. It forms where silica-rich water fills cavities in volcanic rock and slowly hardens, and its colour comes mainly from trace iron. This stone comes from the Juniper Ridge Opal Mine near Bly in Lake County, Oregon. At a hardness of 5.5, it is best suited to pendants, earrings and protected settings.
Metaphysically, fire opal is associated with passion, creativity, warmth and energy. It is often used as a symbolic stone for enthusiasm and creative expression. These associations come from spiritual and crystal traditions rather than scientifically established properties.
