Description
Mined from: Gilgit-Baltistan region, North Pakistan
Description: This one of a kind Sphene, also known as Titanite, mineral specimen from Pakistan features an olive-green to yellow-green rough crystal section with a natural glassy to resinous surface. The piece has an angular, wedge-like shape with semi-translucent areas, darker green internal zoning, and small natural pits across the surface. Light tan to whitish mineral remnants are present along a few edges and fractures, with some brown iron staining adding to the natural rough character. It is a smaller collector specimen with good colour and a raw, unpolished look.
Sphene, now more commonly referred to by the mineral name Titanite, is a calcium titanium silicate mineral with the chemical formula CaTiSiO₅. The name “Sphene” comes from the Greek word for wedge, referring to its common wedge-shaped crystal habit. Titanite is known among collectors for its high luster, strong dispersion, and range of colours including green, yellow, brown, and honey tones. Fine material can be faceted, but rough mineral specimens like this are mainly collected for their natural crystal form, colour, and locality.
Spiritually, Sphene/Titanite is often associated with mental clarity, focus, personal growth, and strengthening intention. Its green colour is also commonly tied to renewal, confidence, and steady forward movement. This piece is a good fit for collectors who like natural green minerals, Pakistani mineral specimens, and rough crystal forms with a more earthy, unpolished look.
