Description

Mined from: Merelani Hills, Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, Tanzania

Description: This one of a kind tanzanite specimen has a strong blue to violet-blue color and a compact, elongated crystal shape with a natural pointed termination. The piece shows crisp prism faces, clear lengthwise striations, and a good glassy luster across the cleaner surfaces. Internal fractures and reflective planes catch the light and give it flashes of brighter electric blue, while the more frosted and included areas keep it looking natural rather than polished or overly worked. It is a small specimen, but it has the kind of defined shape and color that gives it real presence.

Tanzanite is the blue to violet gem variety of zoisite, and it is famous because it comes from one very restricted mining area in northern Tanzania. Its color is linked mainly to vanadium in the crystal structure, and the material is known for strong pleochroism, meaning it can show different shades depending on viewing direction, often blue, violet, and softer purplish tones. In natural crystal form like this, those structural features are still visible in the prism faces and growth lines. That makes a specimen like this appealing not only as a gem mineral, but also as a good natural example of how tanzanite forms before any cutting or heating for jewelry.

Tanzanite is often associated with insight, composure, and inner clarity. Many people are drawn to it for its calm but intense color, and it is commonly kept as a stone connected with reflection, intuition, and thoughtful communication. A natural crystal like this tends to appeal to people who want that symbolism in a form that still feels raw, direct, and close to the earth.
