Description

Mined from: Merelani Hills, Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, Tanzania

Description: This one of a kind tanzanite specimen has a rich blue-violet color with a long, narrow crystal form and a sharp natural termination at one end. The crystal shows strong lengthwise striations, glassy luster, and a mix of transparent to translucent areas that let the color deepen and shift depending on the angle. There are also natural white mineral remnants and internal fractures that give it a more rugged, untouched character. It is a slender display piece with good shape, clear zoning, and the kind of natural surface detail that collectors look for in uncut mineral specimens.

Tanzanite is the blue to violet gem variety of zoisite, and it comes from one very limited area in northern Tanzania. Its color is tied mainly to vanadium, and one of the reasons it became so famous is its strong pleochroism, meaning the crystal can show different colors from different directions, often blue, violet, and slightly brownish or purplish tones in natural form. In a specimen like this, that crystal structure is still easy to appreciate because the prism faces, growth lines, and termination have not been removed by cutting. That makes it appealing not only as a gemstone mineral, but also as a clear example of how this material actually forms in nature.

Tanzanite is often associated with insight, calm, and thoughtful communication. Many people are drawn to it as a stone that symbolizes inner depth, perspective, and personal growth. Its cool violet-blue color gives it a quiet, reflective presence that people often connect with clarity, intuition, and a steadier state of mind.
