描述

Mined from: Haut-Katanga or Lualaba copper belt region. Congo

Description: This one of a kind Barite mineral specimen from the Congo features a dense and sculptural formation of warm honey-brown to golden tan bladed crystals. The specimen is composed of many thin, stacked Barite blades arranged in sweeping rosette-like clusters, with layered fan formations and open pockets throughout the piece. Small white botryoidal mineral growths sit across portions of the Barite, adding a bright contrast against the earthy golden crystal structure and giving the specimen a highly textured, dimensional appearance.

Barite, also known as Baryte, is a barium sulfate mineral recognized for its unusually heavy weight compared to many other crystals of similar size. Its name comes from the Greek word barys, meaning “heavy,” referring to its high specific gravity. Barite is commonly found in hydrothermal veins, sedimentary deposits, and as a gangue mineral alongside metallic ores. Specimens from the Congo are often associated with the mineral-rich copper belt region, where Barite can occur with calcite, quartz, sulfides, and iron-rich matrix material.

Spiritually, Barite is often associated with grounding, inner clarity, and spiritual alignment. Many crystal collectors connect it with calm focus, dream work, and the release of heavy or stagnant energy, making it a popular mineral for those seeking both visual beauty and a stabilizing presence.
