Description

Mined from: Midelt area, Morocco

Description: This one-of-a-kind Blue Barite statement specimen from Morocco features pale blue, bladed Barite crystals growing across a rugged orange-brown matrix. The specimen has several open pockets lined with crystal clusters, giving it a strong natural display shape with good depth and texture. The soft blue Barite contrasts well against the iron-stained host rock, making this a solid cabinet or shelf piece for collectors who like large Moroccan mineral specimens with real presence.

Barite is a barium sulfate mineral known for its high density, tabular crystal habit, and range of colours, including white, honey, golden, gray, and blue. Morocco is one of the better-known sources for attractive Barite specimens, especially from the Nador and Midelt regions, where blue Barite crystals are often found on iron-rich matrix. This specimen’s pale blue colour, bladed crystal form, and orange-brown host rock are consistent with Moroccan Barite material.

Mining at Cavnic ended in 2007, when the workings were closed and placed under conservation. With underground access now closed and no regular new production, blue Barite specimens from Cavnic mainly come from older collections and dealer stock. This makes documented Cavnic material increasingly rare, since the unusual blue crystal growths cannot simply be replaced by newly mined specimens.

Spiritually, Barite is often associated with clarity, calm focus, grounding, and working through mental clutter. Blue Barite in particular is commonly linked with communication, peaceful thinking, and steady emotional balance. Whether collected for its mineral structure or used as a display piece, this specimen has a clean, natural look with plenty of crystal detail to study up close.
