Description: These Gabbro Alto spheres from Madagascar feature a deep black to charcoal base with scattered gray and silver mineral patches created by interlocking feldspar and pyroxene crystals. When polished into a sphere, the natural grain and mineral contrast become more visible, giving each piece a distinctive mottled pattern.
Gabbro is a coarse-grained igneous rock that forms slowly beneath the Earth’s surface as magma cools. The Madagascar material commonly sold as “Gabbro Alto” is valued for its striking contrast between dark minerals and lighter reflective inclusions, making it popular for decorative carvings and mineral displays.
