Description: This one of a kind Smithsonite mineral specimen from Congo features a bright turquoise-blue botryoidal coating over a brown iron-rich matrix. The Smithsonite has a rounded, bubbly surface with a waxy to slightly glossy luster, giving the piece a clean blue contrast against the rough reddish-brown host rock. White to pale mineral patches are scattered across the surface, adding texture without taking away from the strong blue colour. The specimen has a solid display shape, with both the front and back showing natural matrix, growth texture, and blue mineral coverage.

Smithsonite is a zinc carbonate mineral, often found in oxidized zones of zinc deposits. It can form in a wide range of colours, but blue and turquoise Smithsonite specimens are especially popular with collectors because of their clean colour and rounded crystal habit. Congo is known for producing colourful secondary copper and zinc minerals, including bright blue-green Smithsonite material from mineral-rich mining regions.
