Description

Mined from: Huanggang Mines / Huanggang Fe-Sn deposit, in Hexigten Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China.

Description: This one of a kind Hedenbergite mineral specimen from Mongolia, China features a dense spray of pale green-grey to smoky translucent crystals rising in a radial formation from a darker brown and grey matrix. The crystals show sharp pointed terminations, glassy faces, and a soft frosted surface texture, with tiny dark mineral inclusions scattered across many of the points. The specimen has excellent depth and structure, with overlapping crystal clusters creating a dramatic, flower-like display from the front and a more rugged natural matrix visible from the back.

Hedenbergite is an iron-rich calcium silicate mineral belonging to the pyroxene group, closely related to diopside. It is commonly found in skarn deposits, where hot mineral-rich fluids interact with limestone and other calcium-rich rocks during contact metamorphism. Specimens from Inner Mongolia, China are well known among collectors for their attractive green-grey crystals, often associated with quartz, calcite, fluorite, garnet, and metallic sulphide minerals.

Spiritually, Hedenbergite is often associated with grounding, emotional balance, stability, and steady personal growth. Its deep green-grey tones are commonly linked with resilience and practical focus, while the clear to translucent crystal formations bring a sense of clarity and calm. This makes it a meaningful display piece for those who appreciate minerals with both strong geological character and peaceful, stabilizing energy.
