Description: This one of a kind rutilated quartz specimen from Brazil has a smoky brown quartz body with golden rutile needles running through the interior. The crystal has been polished to show the internal structure clearly, with natural-looking base material still visible along one side. Fine rutile threads cross through the quartz in different directions, giving the piece a clean display look without hiding its natural mineral character.
Rutilated quartz forms when quartz grows around needle-like rutile crystals, locking them inside as the silica-rich fluids continue to crystallize. Brazil, especially Bahia, is one of the best-known sources for rutilated quartz, producing specimens with golden, coppery, silver, and reddish rutile inclusions. The smoky color in this piece likely comes from natural irradiation affecting trace aluminum within the quartz structure.
