Description
Mined from: Maevarano Formation, Mahajanga Basin, Southern Madagascar
Era: Late Cretaceous
Geological Age: 66–72 mya
Description: This one of a kind Sauropod hip bone sphere from Southern Madagascar has a darker brown polished surface with subtle fossil bone cell structure visible throughout. The pattern is tighter and less contrast-heavy than some dinosaur bone spheres, giving it a smoother, deeper look while still showing the natural internal texture of fossilized bone. Small pits, fine lines, and darker mineral-filled sections add character to the piece.
Sauropods were massive long-necked dinosaurs, and hip bone came from one of the strongest weight-bearing areas of the skeleton. During fossilization, mineral-rich groundwater moved through the porous bone, preserving the internal structure while gradually turning the original bone into stone.
Spiritually, dinosaur bone is often associated with strength, endurance, grounding, ancient memory, and survival through deep time. In sphere form, it is also commonly connected with balance, wholeness, and steady energy.
