Description
Mined from: Brazil
Description: This worry stone is carved from natural Black Tourmaline sourced from Brazil, one of the world’s most important producers of high-quality tourmaline crystals. The stone has a smooth thumb indentation designed for rubbing or holding in the hand. Black Tourmaline, also known as schorl, typically forms in long prismatic crystals within pegmatites—coarse-grained igneous rocks that crystallize slowly and allow large mineral crystals to grow.
Tourmaline is a complex boron silicate mineral group known for its durability and distinctive vertical striations when found in natural crystal form. Black Tourmaline is the most common variety and is valued both as a mineral specimen and as a functional stone used in carvings and jewelry. Its hardness ranges around 7–7.5 on the Mohs scale, making it durable enough for everyday handling while still capable of taking a smooth polish.
Black Tourmaline is widely associated with protection and grounding. Many people use it as a stone believed to absorb or deflect unwanted energy and create a sense of stability. Worry stones are traditionally used as tactile tools for stress relief—rubbing the thumb across the carved indentation during moments of anxiety or concentration. For this reason, Black Tourmaline worry stones are often carried in a pocket, kept on a desk, or used during meditation.
