Description: This one of a kind mineral specimen from the Moscona Mine in Asturias, Spain features a cluster of large, translucent white calcite crystals resting on a broad bed of honey-brown fluorite. The fluorite forms tightly packed cubic crystals with stepped faces, glassy lustre, and darker internal zoning. Small white carbonate crystals are scattered through the gaps, adding texture between the larger calcite formations. The low, natural matrix gives the piece a stable display profile, while the contrast between the pale calcite and darker fluorite makes the crystal structure easy to see from several angles.

The Moscona Mine, located near El Pontón de Solís in Corvera de Asturias, is an important European fluorite locality. It is particularly known for transparent honey-yellow fluorite cubes associated with calcite, barite, dolomite, and metallic sulphide minerals. Calcite is common at the mine, and large calcite crystals on yellow or brown fluorite are considered a classic Moscona combination. Some Moscona fluorite and calcite specimens also show zoned fluorescence under ultraviolet light.
