Description
Origin: Arizona, U.S.A.
Description: This petrified wood is similar to that of the rainbow wood from the Arizona Petrified Forest. However, it is found a couple hundred miles away on a Reservation. The colours are more vibrant and the melding of the colours and pattern is different. The stone overall is more stable and has less cracks than the traditional Petrified Forest Material. It is a fantastic Agate for making jewelry grade stones.
Petrified wood is a type of fossil formed when plant material, typically wood, is buried under sediment and then subjected to heat and pressure over millions of years. During this process, the organic material is replaced by minerals, usually silica, which crystallize and preserve the original structure of the wood. The result is a beautiful, often colorful stone that retains the grain and texture of the original wood.
