Description: These arrowheads come in an assortment of colors. Petrified Wood occurs when a stone is covered by sediment, preserving it (still as an organic form). The sediment protects it from anerobic activity. i.e.: the oxygen starved environment prevents bacteria from surviving there to break it down. Eventually, over time, the softest areas of the wood begin to get replaced by mineralization. This continues until the whole organic matter is eventually replaced by permineralization.
