Description: This rainbow wood is a variety of colours which is due to the original wood structure being replaced by minerals in the silica. The oranges and reds are from hematite inclusions, the yellow from limonite, and the purple from magnesium based minerals. Arizona designated petrified wood as their state fossil in 1988.
