Origin: Wessels Mine, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

Description: Sugilite is still around today, but in very low quality. Most of it is almost pure black. This sugilite is pure purple. Some is verging on jelly, but most is just solid opaque purple. It is old stock from about 20 years ago. It is cutting and specimen grade.

Chemical Composition: SiO2

Grade: Precious
Appearance: Translucent/ Opaque
Inclusions: Some of these stones have cracks. Small pieces are more likely to have flaws than large pieces. There is riebeckite (blue) in some of the stones- which actually adds value. Some have black host rock, or small white dots. but the overwhelming majority of this stone is purple.
