Description: Mookaite, also known as Mookaite Jasper, is a silicified porcellanite, essentially fossilized sea floor sediment. It is made of chert, opalite, chalcedony, or combinations of all three, and is found only in Western Australia. The different colours are layers of fine grain silica that hardened over time. It is one of the few clean yellow stones available for lapidary use.
