Description
Locality: Morocco
Description: These white "selenite" spheres are cut from satin spar, the fibrous form of gypsum (calcium sulphate). True selenite is the clear, glassy crystal form of the same mineral. Gypsum typically forms as mineral-rich water evaporates, and in satin spar the crystals grow as fine parallel fibres, which give the polished surface its silky band of light. Gypsum is very soft (2 on the Mohs scale) and dissolves slowly in water, so keep these spheres dry.
In Crystal Lore: In crystal lore, selenite is traditionally associated with calm, clarity and a peaceful home. The name comes from Selene, the Greek goddess of the Moon, and some believe the stone helps clear the energy of a room. It is linked with the crown chakra and, in many traditions, with all the chakras, and in zodiac traditions with Cancer and Taurus.
